You can fund open source explorations of blockchain for social impact using Dai. Donations made in Dai to UNICEF France will go to creating bounties and funding research for open source tech and infrastructure projects, to help the world’s most vulnerable people. No amount is too small.

The Dignity Network aims to give youth new skills and tools needed to build solutions for local challenges. Over several days, youth participate in various learning events and finally come together to solve particular challenges in a multi-day co-design with mentors and thought leaders. Each event is tailored to the local context, but also ties into larger, global themes faced by many, such as displacement and access to essential services. The events will bring people of various backgrounds, such as creatives, technologists and enthusiasts, together to learn, and collaborate.

The Dignity Network will grow by hosting events, building a community of youth involved in blockchain related projects around the globe. The learning events will introduce the fundamentals of setting up a blockchain, building smart contracts and the necessary steps for developing a prototype. Leveraging their newly acquired skills, youth will then prototype innovate solutions during co-design sessions with the support of subject matter experts. For each event, there will be a set of tasks that teams will work to achieve, all smaller components of a larger solution. For each task that is completed, a reward is unlocked. Many small tasks can be combined together to create minimum viable products. Final solutions are presented to a group of thought leaders for feedback and final judging. Updates on the global series will be published
here.

Beyond the local events, teams can continue to develop their solutions and work to unlock global rewards, known as bounties. Should projects mature to the point of an early stage start-up, the group could be considered for UNICEF’s
Venture Fund

EVENTS

UNICEF France began accepting cryptocurrencies in 2018, and will contribute global bounties to the Dignity Network, motivating teams to solve challenges beyond the individual events. By utilizing blockchain for bounties, there is greater transparency in where funds are being moved, from donation through to disbursement. In addition, the global bounties provide an incentive for teams to develop more robust solutions, which then could be eligible for further funding, for example through UNICEF’s Venture Fund.
